About Jeffrey J. Kovacic, MD
Jeffrey J. Kovacic, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in orthopedic sports medicine. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he earned a bachelor of science degree from The Ohio State University graduating summa cum laude with distinction for research in human lipid biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from the Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. From there he returned to Cleveland to serve an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He stayed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for an additional year of fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine and surgery. During his 6 years as a physician at the Cleveland Clinic, he was involved in the care of athletes in all disciplines of sports at all levels including two local high schools and Baldwin-Wallace College. He also served as a physician for the Gravity Games, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Indians.
Dr. Kovacic and his wife Andrea relocated to Atlanta in 2005. In 2006, Dr. Kovacic co-founded Dominion Orthopedic Clinic. With Dominion, he practiced sports medicine and orthopedic surgery in the Johns Creek community for 5 years. He was then recruited to develop an orthopedic surgery program at Emory-Adventist Hospital (EAH). While at EAH he served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Medical Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Kovacic is extensively involved with sports medicine in the community. He is an instructor for the physical therapy residency program with a large PT provider. In addition, Dr. Kovacic cares for athletes from numerous schools and area sports programs. He has been the team physician for Hillgrove High School since 2010. Dr. Kovacic is a sub-specialist in the surgical and non-operative treatment of sports injuries and fractures in children, adolescents, and young adults.
In his free time Dr. Kovacic enjoys coaching his children and pursuing outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, and camping.
